BEHEMOTH – A Journal on Civilization publishes current research articles that deal with the dissolution and/or failure of state power and the resulting consequences. The journal sees itself as a platform for discussing risk and order in societies in which state institutions are losing or have already lost their integrative power. Approaches and concepts that analyze these new contingent and sometimes precarious regimes of (dis-)order will be discussed.
BEHEMOTH has been published twice a year since 2014 in cooperation with the Center for Security and Society at the University of Freiburg. The group of editors includes: Prof. Natascha Adamowsky (media studies), Prof. Ulrich Bröckling (cultural sociology), Prof. Andreas Langenohl (sociology), Prof. Ralf Poscher (law), Prof. Frieder Vogelmann (political theory and social philosophy) and Prof. Ute Tellmann (General Sociology / Sociological Theory).
